Economics
Once around question: What did you do the last time someone asked you for some money? Where were you?
Question: Economically speaking!
Who are “the poor”? (those in need of basics, food, water, shelter, clothing, medical)
What do “the poor” need? (Those basics)
Who are “the wealthy”? (We Are)
What is a Biblically response to poverty only using these verses?
1. Leviticus 27:30-32 – Tithe (10%) is what we owe the Lord.
2. Mark 10:21 –25 – Rich Young Man “GO sell your possessions and give to the poor…camel and eye of the needle passage.
3. II Cor 9: 6-8 – God loves a cheerful giver.
However there is this annoying passage about sheep and goats:
Matt 25:31-46
Ok the stakes are higher when it comes to our involvement with the poor!
So the challenge becomes for us “the wealthy” to rub elbows with the poor, maybe we start there? But how? That is the greatest question!
Until we can rub elbows and live in community with the poor becuase that takes time. What can we do?
