Nov. 5, 2006 - Heidi C. - II Cor. 4:7-12

Sunday Recap:

The question: What is your occupation? And what is the question that someone asks once they hear your answer?

Couple responses: Math Teacher - Are you crazy?, Real Estate Agent - Is the Market is bad as it seems?, Warehouse worker - Do you like your job?, Stay-at-home Mom - Are you going to go back to work?, Lawyer - they usually roll their eyes and tell a lawyer joke.

I thought it was interesting to hear all the different occupations we had in our class.

The Content:
Heidi 3 Principles of Spiritual life & Death for II Cor. 4:7-12:
1. In order for there to be life there must be death
2. In order for you to live you must die(to Self)
3. In order for others to live you must die.

We spent some time looking at different stories in scripture where these principles are used. One of them was Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Another one was the interaction between Peter and Jesus when Jesus told him he needed to die and Peter didn't want that to happen. I don't remember the other scriptural examples.

We looked at some thing that need to die: Materialism, Anger, Control and areas such as this...
We then talked about what might live because we die to those things: Materialism dies so generosity might live, Anger dies so relationship can live, Control dies so God's will can be done...

Heidi left us with a challenge to think about what in our life needs to die?

Missed you if you were not here this morning and share your thoughts of you were around.

See you at Mid-week...

Todd says,

2 things stuck out to me...
1. Glad to see lots of people.
2. I think I tend to view myself as trying to put to death certain things in my life. Just when I seem to think I died to some sin it springs up again and the battle wages on.
